Χαρτί υγείας
“My wife and I stumbled on the Phaedra by sheer accident. We were looking for a hotel in the old part of town and there it was. My guess is it is family owned and run. Very clean. The first time we were there – perhaps around 83 or 84, the toilet and bath were at the end of the hall. In two later trips we (I) had private bath. It has no “lobby” to speak of so the fact that the furniture is a bit threadbare is irrelevant. I you, like us, look upon a hotel as a place to sleep and rest when sight-seeing, then the Phaedra is for you. Just out the door and a short climb upwards you have the Acropolis; across the street you have to walk down the steps to enter one of the oldest churches in town. (Queen Sofia of Spain was baptized there.) Around the corner is the Temple of Zeus, around another corner is another magnificent church. You are a few short blocks from Syntagma Plaza and on the other side of the plaza is the Parliament, guarded by skirted military. One could go on with the proximity to just about everything you want to see in Athens. The Hotel Paedra? Clean, friendly and inexpensive. I know I had breakfast there in April of 2000 but I don’t think they serve meals. No matter. You are also in the heart of dozens of eating places for all purses. The temptation is to say “for budget travelers” but you don’t have to carry a back-pack to feel as if you got your money’s worth in the Phaedra.”

“We stayed in the Hotel Phaedra in the Plaka (very near Hadrian’s Arch). It was EXTREMELY clean, VERY friendly, convenient, and reasonable for the area. We stayed in the most expensive room (80 euros) because we wanted a double bed, balcony (view of the Acropolis—faces the lookout point with the Greek flag flying), and private bathroom. There are less expensive rooms as well. There is a computer in the lobby to access the internet. We cannot say enough about this charming little hotel. When we return the Athens someday, we would stay there again without hesitation. The hotel is very friendly and helpful. Unfortunately, our plane was delayed over 7 hours upon departure…we decided to return to the plaka from the airport to enjoy more time in Athens. We asked the hotel if we could leave our belongings to walk around (after we had checked out and left for the day)…they said of course. They also let us use the bathrooms at this same time. Highly recommend this place!”
WOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS CHARMING HOTEL
